If you are waiting for an elevator and it arrives do you:
a) Wait for the people to exit before getting on, or
b) Stride onto the elevator immediately regardless of whether someone is trying to get off.
It seems that more and more people are selecting option (b). And I’ve noticed that these people are increasingly likely to give you dirty looks as though to say that it’s you who is in the wrong and not them.
Yesterday, for example, I took the elevator to the basement of the building I work in with a co-worker and someone pushed their way past us as we were trying to get off. She actually bumped into me, and didn’t say a word when she did.
A bit of common courtesy really won’t kill you — wait those extra couple of seconds to allow the people to get off the elevator first instead of pushing your way through them.
