My amateur radio information

I’ve held VE3XGD since becoming licensed in December 1992.

In late-March 2009, I picked up a Kenwood TM-D710A along with a Garmin GPS18, so if I’m out and about I can usually be tracked at VE3XGD-9.

For the months of December 2006 and January 2007, I’m also using CG3XGD, a special callsign in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the first commercial AM broadcast by Reginald Fessenden, on 24 December 1906. For more information, the Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) website. I will be issuing special QSL cards for any contacts I make using this callsign.

Currently, I am using a Yaesu FT-857 with an ATAS-120 for mobile operations in my GM Tracker. To date, my HF contacts have been made when I’ve been parked somewhere, rather than actually driving. I recently solved some noise issues, so I may be making the odd mobile HF contact, particularly for ragchews where I don’t need to make detailed log entries every couple of minutes. I typically operate at 100W, though I may try some QRP at some point.

In July 2007, I joined the Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS) as member #1489.

QSL cards

I’m scanning the QSL cards that I’ve received. You can view them here.

QSL information

I can be QSL’d via the bureau, though I prefer to receive QSLs direct (see below). However, if you’re a bureau user, please feel free. Just be sure your postal address is on the card somewhere as I may return direct.

I also accept eQSLs using www.eQSL.cc, but I really appreciate receiving the real cards. :)
